Church Media Spring Cleaning Checklist: Great for Easter Preparation!
Between Christmas and Easter is the perfect time for a thorough check-up of your church’s media setup. A little maintenance and organization now can go a long way in ensuring smooth, distraction-free services. Use this checklist to check off some basics and get everything in top shape!
1. Computer & Software Check-Up
- Update Windows OS – Ensure your operating system is up to date, but schedule updates for times that won’t interfere with services (avoid Sundays and the days leading up to them!).
- Check Auto-Update Settings – Adjust automatic update times to avoid last-minute surprises before a service.
- Update Presentation Software – Verify that you’re running the latest version of your church presentation software. If you’re on MediaShout and using an older version than 7, consider upgrading to MediaShout 7 for the best performance and features. (Or check out a new license if you’re coming from another software).
- Evaluate Computer Performance – If your media computer is over 5-7 years old, it may be time to upgrade to a new MediaShout Church Media Computer Bundle for a faster, more reliable experience.
- Check Video Card & Other Components – Ensure all hardware is functioning correctly and drivers are up to date.
2. Projection & Display Maintenance
- Inspect Projector Bulbs – If your projector bulbs are dim or flickering, replace them before Easter services.
- Clean Projector Lenses & Fans – Dust can build up and reduce brightness. Use compressed air or a soft cloth to clean lenses and filters.
- Secure Video Connections – Check all cables and connections (such as HDMI, SDI, etc.) to ensure everything is plugged in properly and functioning.
- Inspect Stage Display Monitors – Ensure all screens are working, connections are secure, and mounts are stable with bolts tightened to prevent accidents.
- Dust & Clean TV Vents – Remove any dust from TV vents and ensure proper ventilation to prevent overheating, which will improve longevity of these screens as well.
3. Organizing & Optimizing Your Tech Booth
- Declutter the Tech Booth – Clear out old service flow printouts, unnecessary papers, and outdated equipment.
- Dust & Clean Workstations – Wipe down surfaces, clean keyboards and mice, and ensure a tidy workspace.
- Check & Clean Cameras – Dust off cameras and lenses to ensure high-quality streaming and recording.
4. Media & Presentation Enhancements
- Refresh Worship Media – Get new backgrounds and graphics to keep visuals fresh and engaging. Shift Worship Media (available through MediaShout) provides a subscription with high-quality media for your services.
- Experiment with New Slide Designs – Try new templates available in MediaShout 7’s latest update for a fresh, modern look.
- Organize Your Media Library – Sort and categorize media files for easier access.
5. Training & Troubleshooting
- Catch Up on Team Training – Ensure all media volunteers, especially new team members, are well-trained. Take advantage of MediaShout Plus for scheduled training sessions and video calls.
- Resolve Technical Issues – Stop bandaiding the same Sunday morning tech headaches! Schedule a MediaShout Plus support call to troubleshoot and fix any lingering problems. If you’re not a member, look into the benefits of MediaShout Plus.
By running through this Church Media Spring Cleaning Checklist, you’ll ensure every Sunday and especially Easter service is a seamless experience. A little preparation now means fewer surprises later and a smoother, more worship-focused environment for your congregation and your volunteers. Happy cleaning!
